HELLO
Hey, welcome, it’s nice to be here with you. This is a newsletter where I explore themes of permission and attention through my experience in the world and the romantic comedy genre.
Boop bap boop. Let me know if you want to have a chat about power, oligarchy, and facism and how they show up in our daily lives ~-~. This month I am paying attention to the Working Families Party Movement, I am planning to visit the State House to protest/meet with my reps, and I am planning to go to Climate Changemaker virtual hours of action on Monday evenings. P’haps you want to sign a petition to not freeze or cut federal aid. A lil action every day to keep the facism at bay………………
It’s my birthday month!! Get ready for pink lemonade ice cubes in the shape of mah jongg tiles, tim tam slams, and minute to win it style challenges.
Lately I’ve been prioritizing structured time to celebrate and cry. After submitting a job application or working out at the free weights station I’ll put on the GoNoodle “Celebrate” video and sing out loud when they ask me: “What are you celebrating?”. As for scheduled tears.. sometime around 2010 I was studying cello at a music camp led by my teacher Meghan. While workshopping the Sonata in G Minor: I. Largo by Henry Eccles, my coach asked me about accessing feelings of sadness. That evening she emailed me five links to sad scenes in movies. I remember watching the scene where Mufasa dies in the Lion King and sobbing. The next day she asked me to evoke those feelings in my playing. In the TV show Shrinking they talk about scheduling 15 minutes to listen to sad music and cry. I’m curious to try that. Do you have any favorite songs to cry to?
